Abstract

Discusses educational initiatives in the U.S. to maximize the abilities of all children. Gaps in achievement between groups of students; Strategy in North Carolina that is outlined in the report 'Implementation Plan for Recommendations from the North Carolina Advisory Commission on Raising Achievement and Closing Gaps'; Recommendations, including that the state should reduce and eliminate the disproportionate number of minority students assigned to special education; Legislation in Kentucky to end achievement gaps.
